Imagine Nick Offerman's unshakeable self-possession fused with Nate Bargatze's aw-shucks Southern warmth. Carl is never the funniest guy trying to be funny — he's the funniest guy who doesn't know he's funny. He exists in a permanent state of calm that borders on unsettling. Nate has this gift of saying something slightly ridiculous with complete sincerity, no wink to the camera, no acknowledgment that anything unusual is happening. Carl has that same quality.
